One of the latest news in B town is that movie actor Sushant Singh Rajput recently turned down the endorsement opportunity of a fairness cream. It was not that he was being paid less, he was being paid a whopping sum of rupees fifteen crores, but still, he opted out of endorsement any brand which implies any sort of racism. As per sources, in this contract, he has to do 6 advertisements over a period of three years.
For a budding actor like him, it is definitely a great and a bold move. He didn’t want to send any incorrect message and didn’t want to promote the fact that skin tone of a human makes any difference. He feels that as a responsible actor, he has to be careful about what he endorses for what he lends to the face, as there are many people who look up to him.
He has followed the footsteps of leading actors at an early stage of his career. Established actors like Randeep Hooda, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Ranbeer Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachan and Akshay Kumar have had earlier turned down well-paying ads which does not have a positive objective for the society.
Earlier, it has been seen that actors like Abhay Deol have clearly spoken against the concept of Bollywood actors endorsing fairness products. He had bought the debate of fairness and unfairness in the limelight. Later, a politician joined the movement saying that since India is a land with both dark skinned south Indians and fair skinned north Indians, it does not support racism. Later on, famous actors like Priyanka Chopra and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also joined the anti-fairness campaign.
It is amazing to see how young mind is moving towards a better India.
